Why?

The founders of planningNET see a present and growing need for greater public accountability in the UK planning system, which is institutionally unresponsive to the opinions of local people and more interested in development targets, and the objectives of developers and their professional advisers. This means that the opinions of people who must live, work and play next to, or within, the developments are largely unheard.

This disconnection with the views of local people, exemplified by the terrible mistakes of the 1960s, has been the scourge of our communities. Every town, village and city has its catalogue of detestable, bland, or arrogant developments, which have scarred the face of some of our most elegant and appealing environments, heritage or otherwise.

There is no excuse for them.
